Oregon State University Lichens, OSC (OSU-L)
The lichen collection at Oregon State University is housed in our Fungal Herbarium. Worldwide it is by far the largest collection of lichenized fungi from the Pacific Northwest of North America. Although the collection includes specimens from all continents, it best represents the region from Alaska to northern California and inland to Montana. The specimens form the primary basis for print, online, and genomic resources underpinning comprehensive works on biodiversity of lichens in our region. In addition, we house lichen vouchers from the U.S. Forest Inventory and Analysis and the Air Resource Management Programs of the Forest Service. We lend specimens to researchers around the world and borrow specimens from other institutions to facilitate research at OSU on ecology, evolution, biology, and environmental science.
