Plants perennial, caulescent, cinereous-strigillose, hairs basifixed.

Stems solitary or few, erect, (15)20–50 cm.

Leaves 2–7 cm; leaflets 5–9(13), linear to linear-oblong, (1.5)3–15 × 0.5–3 mm, tips obtuse or subacute, surfaces abaxially strigose, adaxially strigose or glabrescent; stipules 1–3 mm, free.

Inflorescences racemes, loosely or remotely (3)7–30-flowered; peduncles (3)5–15 cm; bracts 0.6–1.5 mm; pedicels 1–2 mm; bracteoles 0.

Flowers spreading at anthesis; calyces 2.3–3.4 mm, strigose, hairs white or partly fuscous or black, tubes 2.1–2.8 mm, teeth deltoid or subulate, 0.3–0.8 mm; corollas (5.5)6–8 mm, yellowish green, purple-tinged; ovules (6)8–15.

Fruits unilocular, pendulous, narrowly oblong or lance-oblong, straight or falcately decurved, strongly compressed, bicarinate, 12–25 × 3–5.5 mm, strigillose; valves papery to thinly cartilaginous; stipes 4–8 mm.

Slopes, flats, sagebrush. Flowering May–Jul. 900–1600 m. BR, Owy. NV. Native.
