Plants 2–6 dm, glabrous.

Stems often branched above.

Leaves basal and cauline, ternate-pinnate; blades 5–25 cm; leaflets 1–3 cm, most ultimate leaf segments ? 3 mm wide, margins shallowly to deeply pinnately lobed; petioles 1–25 cm.

Inflorescences peduncles 5–30 cm; rays 5–15(18), 1–5 cm; pedicels 2–10 mm.

Flowers sepals minute.

Fruits oblong to elliptic-oblong, 4–7 mm; ribs low but conspicuous; wings narrow.

2n=22, 44.

Meadows, open slopes, woods. Flowering May–Sep. 400–2800 m. BR, BW, Casc, ECas, Est, Sisk. CA, ID, NV, WA; northeast to MT, southeast to UT. Native.
